I have always believed that one way Detroit can redevelop itself is to become a center of academic research and learning. I thing it's great Wayne State is using a pre-existing structure to expand to which will help revitalize the area it is in. There is little need for any organization to start new construction when there is a wealth of buildings ready to be used. The success of Detroit will be determined by how well the core is managed and what is done with the abandoned properties around the core of the city. This is one way to go about doing it.
